Dear friends and supporters,
July 1st is an important date for many renters in our riding because it is moving day. With the coronavirus and the different sanitary measures, it will certainly not be easy.
Already, with rising rent costs, many families and individuals are finding it impossible to pay ever-rising housing costs. And it keeps getting worse. During the campaign, we have often heard stories of people who had to move many times in order to find an affordable place to live. The Canadian housing market is exploding to the benefit of rich investors and not the people who pay the increased cost of living. What is the federal government doing about this?
For this reason, we are organizing a video conference to talk about this problem with housing activists and NDP members. We have invited Alexandre Boulerice, deputy leader of the NDP and MP for Rosemont-Petite Patrie as well as Hassan El-Asri, housing activist and expert to talk about the needs and what’s at stake. The evening will be hosted by Sophie Thiébaut, housing activist and former NDP candidate in our riding. We hope that you will join us!
July 1st is moving day: It’s time to push our housing policy, not renters!
What policies should the federal government put in place to fight the housing crisis?
The NDP continues to fight in the House of Commons for affordable housing, the environment and social justice. In our community, our local riding association continues to organize. Recently, our riding association activists launched our new website!
If you are not already a member of the association, click here to become one. If you want to help us organize other events, let us know.
As well, we continue to organize activities and to be present in the community. Your donation will help us promote our progressive agenda. You can also make a donation here.
We remind you that at the federal level, donors receive a tax credit valued at up to 75 percent of the donation. For example, a donation of $500 only costs $150.
Hoping to see you virtually on June 29th.
